Re-elect Deborah Penrose
Half Moon Bay City Council
I believe it’s time for our City Council to concentrate on preserving our hometown, instead of focusing so heavily on serving visitors. Let’s continue our practice of community conversation and take a hard look at what we the people of Half Moon Bay really want our city to be.
Within our 1% growth limits we need more low and moderate income homes and apartments to accommodate our teachers and working folks. We need homes for young people who are just starting out and can’t afford the high rents or mortgages.
The children of homeowners here are forced to move away.
We can’t attract or keep teachers. Restaurants and small businesses can’t keep staff. Staff can’t afford our rents. Let’s get the cars off our roads and house our workers here.
We are a diverse community, and I want to encourage better and more vigorous cooperation between city hall, our schools, and our business community. We should tap into the tremendous talent here at home. Our diversity is our greatest strength. We want our town to remain a beautiful, peaceful, and friendly place. Let’s work together to keep it that way.

Creo que es hora de que nuestro Ayuntamiento se concentre en preservar nuestra ciudad natal, en lugar de concentrarnos tanto en atender a los visitantes. Continuemos nuestra práctica de conversación en la comunidad y echemos un vistazo a lo que nosotros, la gente de Half Moon Bay, realmente queremos que sea nuestra ciudad.
Dentro de nuestros límites de crecimiento del 1% necesitamos más hogares y apartamentos de ingresos bajos y moderados para acomodar a nuestros maestros y personas que trabajan. Necesitamos hogares para los jóvenes que recién están comenzando y no pueden pagar una renta tan costoso.
Mas y mas estamos mirando que los hijos de los propietarios aquí se ven obligados a mudarse por el costo alto de vivir aquí.
No podemos atraer o mantener a los maestros. Los restaurantes y las pequeñas empresas no pueden mantener al personal. El personal no puede pagar nuestros alquileres. Saquemos los autos de nuestras carreteras y alojemos a nuestros trabajadores aquí.
Somos una comunidad diversa y quiero fomentar una mejor y más vigorosa cooperación entre el ayuntamiento, nuestras escuelas y nuestra comunidad empresarial. Debemos aprovechar el tremendo talento aquí en casa. Nuestra diversidad es nuestra mayor fortaleza. Queremos que nuestro pueblo siga siendo un lugar hermoso, tranquilo y amigable. Trabajemos juntos para que siga siendo así.
